Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a form of alternative medicine and a component of Traditional Chinese Medicine in which thin needles are inserted into the body to help alleviate blockages and harmonize your body systemically.  These micro injuries caused by the needles send messages to your brain that a specific area needs "help".

Acupuncture can stimulate the Central Nervous System which releases beneficial naturally occurring chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord and brain.

Trigger Point Therapy and Dry Needling help relieve sore, aching muscles. We can cause a "fasciculation" to occur within a muscle which allows the muscle to return back to it's natural elongated state thus reducing tension and pain.

Tui Na / Gua Sha

TuiNa translates to "Pinch and Pull" AKA "Massage". This is a form of Chinese soft tissue manipulation or body work. It is not always used for pleasure and relaxation, but rather as a treatment to address specific patterns of disharmony. (Although it often does feel quite good)

Electric Stimulation Acupuncture

Electrical Stim Acupuncture is an acupuncture session that includes lead wires that attach to the acupuncture needles while the needles are inserted into the skin. This provides a constant manipulation/electrical stimulation of the needles while they are inserted thus activating a healing response.  This is a modern variation of acupuncture that uses electricity to enhance the benefits of this therapeutic traditional treatment.

Ionic Foot Detox

An ionizing machine sends out a low-voltage electric current to charge the atoms in water molecules. It is theorized that these charged atoms attract and neutralize negative toxins in your body. Basically, the impurities gumming up your system get pulled through your feet as if drawn out by a magnet.

This process is said to give the hydrogen in the water a positive charge. The positive charge is said to attract the negatively charged toxins in your body. The ions in the foot bath water supposedly hold a charge that enables them bind to any heavy metals and toxins in your body, similar to how a magnet works. This allows the toxins to be pulled out through the bottoms of your feet.

This treatment is very relaxing at our Gatto Acupuncture & Wellness Practice where you sit in a massage chair (capable of heated seating) with your feet in a soak of Pure Dead Sea Salt. We add essential oils, a few relaxing and/or detox acupuncture points, then send you home with a bamboo foot detox pad to use a few days post session.

Cupping

Various sized cups are used as suction devices that are placed on the skin to disperse and break up stagnation and congestion by drawing blood, energy, and other fluids to the surface. This helps provide relief for many musculoskeletal disorders as well as other pathologies.
